— WELCOME

For too long, Colorado has struggled to provide adequate residential care for individuals living with serious mental illness, particularly those managing co-occurring substance use disorders while navigating the legal system. Monarch Competency exists to bridge that gap.

Welcome

Legal challenges are significantly more complex when serious mental illness is a driving factor. Monarch Competency is a structured residential clinical mental health program built for this population, organized around the same basic conditions that allow any person to begin improving their own circumstances: a foundation they can count on, structure to guide them, and the time and space to reach their potential.

When these fundamentals are in place, residents gain something their circumstances have long denied them: the mental space to discover what they are genuinely capable of, and a real opportunity to demonstrate that growth on their own terms, as they begin finding their way back into the community.

FAQ

asked. answered.
What makes our program so unique from others?

Simply put: our staff has "been there", with many overcoming their own struggles with recovery and legal challenges before earning their professional credentials. This means it's not just a job for us; it's personal. We understand the system from the inside out, which allows us to cut through the bureaucratic tape and focus on what actually works. Don't expect one-size-fits-all methodologies here. Instead, you'll receive real guidance from people with real experience who adapt to the many unique personalities and can think on their feet to help others achieve their own success.

What is the admission criteria?

We serve adult defendants who have been court-ordered for competency restoration and meet specific clinical and legal criteria for residential treatment. Court order for competency restoration; Medical clearance for residential placement; Appropriate for group living environment; No active medical conditions requiring hospital-level care.

What is the treatment duration and average length of stay?
